Karisa is older than the other students at the Gede special needs unit. He was unable to start school when he was younger because there was no place for him to go and his parents were unwilling to believe that he could be achieve anything in life since he has a hearing impaired. His parents are peasant farmers and are divorced. Karisa is a highly motivated student and does especially well in science. As you know he also has a talent for art that if fostered could lead to a possible vocation for him. This is an incredible thing in an area where even those without disabilities make an average of a dollar a day and jobs are scarce. The impact of the time you spent painting with him can never be fully expressed. Its exciting to see where this talent will take him.
He had a sponsor at one time but they ceased sponsorship. Your support will be much more meaningful since you have spent so much time with him. You know his story better than most.
He loves playing football (soccer).
