Kamunzyu Wambua

Deaf
Kamunzyu_wambua_full Kamunzyu is a boy who has no hearing or speech. He had convulsions shortly after birth but it is not known if this was the cause of his hearing impairment or not. He has always been deaf. The community had mixed reactions towards his disability. Some were supportive while others thought he was less of a person because of this disability. His father, Emmanuel Wambua, works in masonry and his mother Doris Wambua, runs a food kiosk (small roadside stand). Kamunzyu has two brothers and one sister that live with his parents in a small mud hut with a thatched roof. The income level of the parents is not sufficient to take care of the boarding fees for this beautiful little guy. Your assistance will ensure Kamunzyu is able to board at the Gede Special Needs Boarding Facility where he will receive three meals a day, a place to sleep and emergency medical attention. He will also be interacting with other deaf children daily which will help him to learn sign language more efficiently. Currently his sign language skills are very fundamental and most of his communication is through gesturing. Kamunzyu loves playing with toys and playing soccer.
