Fahiza is a young man who is deaf most likely due to an attack of cerebral malaria when he was very young. He has some residual hearing which enables him to hear loud noises and say a few words though unintelligibly. It has not yet been determined whether hearing aids would benefit him or not. His parents try to get money by selling crops from their small plot of land. However, they don’t even grow enough to feed their family.
Your sponsorship enables Fahiza to attend the deaf unit at the Marafa Special School and to stay at the boarding facility there. Here he will receive three meals a day, a place to sleep and access to the education he needs.
