Baraka Kashuru is a nine-year-old boy suffering from hearing loss since birth. He was born to a very impoverished family in a mud hut with a tin roof. He has three siblings and his parents work as peasant farmers. Baraka had a very difficult upbringing and sometimes the family would be forced to go without meals. Currently, Baraka enjoys playing with toys, making friends, and running short races. Baraka understands Giriama and is learning English and sign language. If sponsored, Baraka would be able to attend a school, which would allow him to receive a proper education in an environment that specializes in making sure his needs are met.
